In searching for whether Jehovah’s Witnesses were correct about Jesus’ death by cross or by stake, I found that the answer wasn’t as forthcoming as I initially thought. People were crucified regularly in Roman times, but it was so commonplace that nobody thought to describe the process. In fact, this exact phenomenon has been the bane of archaeologists’ and anthropologists’ professional lives for generations.
After heavy research, I found that the torture device traditionally used by the Romans was, in fact, a cross. Jehovah’s Witnesses were wrong. I explain the reasoning and revelations in this book.
After realizing how much of a problem that’s been throughout history, I thought it would be valuable to explain the entire process, from beginning to end, of becoming a Jehovah’s Witness. What’s it like? How does one become a Jehovah’s Witness? What do Kingdom Halls look like? In this book, I aim to describe the religion, inside and out. I relate my experiences to the hard facts and cultural truths in the book. This book is a history, a memoir, and a cultural touchstone all in one.
